Pines CEFR-based Curriculum and Level System

Pines meets international standards in providing English education. Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an INTERNATIONAL STANDARD to describe language ability that contains a detailed description of learner level by English skill. It has 3 broad bands divided into 6 levels – A, B, C (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2)

***In the new level system, we have added Pre-A1. The students in this level have measurable English skills but do not have the skills of A1.

***For purposes of evaluation and pedagogy, the CEFR has a list of very detailed English skills for each level.

Review Programs

A1 Review Program – if a student in L4 does not reach the score required for him/her to proceed to the A2 levels, then the student will take a 2-week review program of A1 learner outcomes
A2 Review Program – if a student in L5N does not reach the score required for him/her to proceed to the B1 levels, then the student will take a 2-week review program of A2 learner outcomes
B1 Review Program – if a student in L8 does not reach the score required for him/her to proceed to the B2 levels, then the student will take a 2-week review program of B1 learner outcomes

Pines International Academy English Proficiency

Test of English Proficiency- Global (TEP-G)

1. PRE-TEST/ENTRANCE TEST

Contents:	Speaking, Writing, Listening, Reading
When:	Group A	Monday of the 1st week of the term
When:	Group B	Monday of the 3rd week of the term

2. MONTHLY TEST (test within the term)

Contents:	Speaking, Writing, Listening, Reading
When:	Group A	MPT - Wednesday and Thursday of the 4th week of the term
	Group A	OPT - Wednesday and Thursday of the 2nd week of the term
	Group B	MPT - Wednesday and Thursday of the 2nd week of the term
	Group B	OPT - Wednesday and Thursday of the 4th week of the term

3. POST-TEST/FINAL TEST

Contents:	Speaking, Writing, Listening, Reading
When:	Group A	MPT - Wednesday and Thursday of the 4th week of the term
When:	Group B	MPT - Wednesday and Thursday of the 2nd week of the term

PROGRESS REPORT CARD (PRC)

A report card will be given to the student when he/she graduates. It contains the following:

General information about the student
Pines test score (PEPT)
CEFR Equivalent of the PEPT
Score meter of PEPT
